"The world will never have lasting peace so long as men reserve for war the finest human qualities.
Peace, no less than war, requires idealism and self-sacrifice and a righteous and dynamic faith."
~~ John Foster Dulles
"Peace and friendship with all mankind is our wisest policy, and I wish we may be permitted
to pursue it."
~~ Thomas Jefferson
In 2006, the Bishop Joseph Miller, took a leave of absence from the Orthodox Catholic
Archdiocese of New England.
Bishop Joseph, secured a conversion bus and began traveling to natural disasters to assist in
recovery efforts. It was during a recovery, the bus caught fire, leaving him homeless and in
need of emergency surgery.
Bishop Joseph is a service connected, disabled veteran. He proudly served in the NY Army National
Guard, U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.
In November of 2007, Bishop Joseph returned to Florida to make it the local headquarters of The
Forgotten Veterans.
In accordance with the old saying, "Put your money where your mouth is," The Forgotten
Veterans are proud to say that no donations or grants were used in the upstart of this program.
Countless veterans have walked through our doors in need of guidance and direction. We have
assisted many vets to secure food stamps and/or social security benefits.
No vet, male OR female, has ever passed through our doors and left unaided. Whether they
needed a bus pass, shower, food, a change of clothes or in some cases, shelter for the night.
